Justin Fields’ recent performance at New York Jets training camp has been a significant cause for concern, despite the team’s public reassurances. While a single bad practice is not a major issue, Fields is in the midst of a noticeable and widely-reported slump.

The Jets acquired Fields this spring with the expectation that he could develop into their franchise quarterback. However, his recent practice statistics tell a troubling story. Over the last three sessions, he has reportedly completed just 15 of 43 passes, with two interceptions and multiple sacks. This puts his completion percentage at an alarmingly low 39.5 percent in 11-on-11 drills, and his calculated passer rating is a mere 28.3—well below his career average of 83.9.

Despite the struggles, Jets coach Aaron Glenn has publicly downplayed concerns, stating he’s not worried and has faith the team will improve by Week 1. However, Glenn’s reputation is tied to the decision to sign Fields after parting ways with Aaron Rodgers, who is now with the Pittsburgh Steelers. With backup Tyrod Taylor sidelined by a knee injury, the Jets’ options at quarterback are limited, leaving them to move forward with Fields and hope for a quick turnaround.
